They say Silicon Valley is a geography, but really, it’s an ecosystem built on two massive pillars: Stanford and Berkeley. Today, standing here at the Alumni House, I feel like I am standing at the very source of the river that feeds the entire tech world.
To be here is to be inside the engine room. This isn’t just a networking event; it’s an induction ceremony into the machinery that drives global innovation.
Putting on this sash implies a permanent shift in identity. Becoming a “Golden Bear” isn’t just about a degree; it changes your DNA. Berkeley produces a rare breed of leader: we are aggressive in our innovation, but we are deeply socially responsible. We don’t just want to disrupt the status quo; we want to fix it. That specific mix of ambition and conscience is what separates us from the rest. It is a badge I will wear for the rest of my life.
You can see the smile on my face. That is the look of a mission accomplished. But looking at this handshake, I am reminded that no one reaches the summit solo.
This moment is a “Thank You” to every professor who grilled me in class, every mentor who refused to accept mediocre work, and every peer who pushed me to be sharper.
